The 28th of December 2025 in Zurich was freezing. Zero degrees, biting wind, that feeling that makes you shove your hands into your pockets just to cross the street.

And yet, yesterday, I did a winter branding photoshoot in Zurich with my photographer friend Erna Drion. Not for a client. For myself. And at the same time, I took photos for her too.

And no, it wasn’t a random choice.

Why Do a Branding Photoshoot in Winter?

My most recent professional photos were from the summer. I wanted images that were more current, fresh, and in line with the season, to show that my brand is active all year round.

This is something I often notice with my clients too: using the same photos over and over loses authenticity.

Why Regular Branding Photoshoots Make a Difference

I don’t take new photos just because it “needs to be done.” My work evolves, my way of communicating changes, and the photos need to reflect that. If it’s true for me, it’s even more true for anyone using images to tell the story of their business.

Having fresh photos means saying: I’m here, I’m active, my brand is alive — even in winter.

How We Handled the Cold in Zurich

Zero degrees? Yes, but we were prepared:

• Warm clothing
• A relaxed pace
• A 10-minute coffee break to warm up

The cold wasn’t a limit — it became part of the experience.

Adapting when Plans Change

We had planned some shots in a café, but Zurich’s cafés were unexpectedly busy yesterday. No panic: on a normal day in Zurich, adding café shots is absolutely possible and adds authenticity to your session.

Professional Photos vs. Spontaneous Shots

Yes, I do use spontaneous phone photos. In my 2026 strategy, I’ll include more mobile images, because the algorithm and audience connection demand it.

But I want to continue adding professional photos, because:

1. I’m a photographer
2. I want to maintain my brand at a high level

Professional images show the care I put into my photoshoot, my image, and my feed.

What I Took Away from This Photoshoot

• No need to wait for the “perfect moment”
• No need to wait for the “ideal season”
• You need to feel represented today
